TWO PAVILLIONS
CATEGORY
Private Residence
LOCATION
PORIRUA, New Zeland
STATUS
Concept
Two masses extend across an exposed Porirua site, connected by a glazed walkway. Each pavilion cranked from the other, the space between them utilised for privacy and retrat.

The forms respond to wind, contour, and outlook. In plan and section, the geometry traces the land beneath - planes pressing and displacing against one another, one mass shifted from the other like plates in slow tension.

Angular, and responsive to the conditions of the site.
Inside, the palette shifts. Pastel tones, patterned rugs, and antique lighting bring a different sensibility to the interior, particular to the client. The sharp external geometry recedes. What remains is playful and warm - an extension of the artist's studio at the heart of the home.
